201610 Phases of Venus (Copernican
System revolves around sun)
21Copernican system Venus should exhibit a complete
set of phases over time as viewed from the Earth
because it is illuminated from the centre of its
orbit.
22Little attention was paid to the Copernican
system until Galileo discovered evidence to
support it.
- 1633 He was convinced that some planets do not
circle the earth, he began to speak and write in
favor of the Copernican system. - His attempts to publicize the Copernican system
- He was tried by authorities.
- Forced to repudiate his beliefs and writings, the
powerful theory could not be suppressed. - Denounced from the church
