readers and writers. There are many different
kinds and can be used in many different ways.

These are great materials for expanding a
persons repertoire of words. There are Versions
for adults as well as children and are available
in many forms and sizes.
4Writing Templates
Above are examples of writing templates that can
be used for both organization and structuring of
written materials.
5Electronic Dictionary/Thesaurus/Spell Checker
The above materials will help people with reading
difficulties to utilize the dictionary/thesaurus/
spell checker as a writing resource at any time.
6Word Processing With Spell Checker/Grammer Checker
Grammar and Spell Checking devices help writers
to minimize spelling and Grammar errors. They are
both computer based and portable.
7Talking Word Processing
Talking Word Processors are great devices for
people with visual impairments and reading
difficulties. These programs will help students
perfect their writing Skills.
8Abbreviation and Expansion Programs
These programs can help increase typing speed as
well as improve your spelling, by allowing you
to use fewer key strokes. By typing in
abbreviations the program recognizes longer words
and sentences.
9WorD Processing With Writing Support
Writing with Symbols 2000 This would be the
program of choice for educational settings where
there is a serious commitment to using symbols
to support language and communication.
Inclusive Writer Similar in structure to the
above, and for use where symbols are useful
occasionally rather than by necessity. The
support materials and examples in this program
are more curriculum-oriented and include rhyming
words, sequencing activities, story starters
and word banks.

individuals with limited upper mobility to access
computer programs and compose written
materials.
