Ischemic Stoke
  • Caused by blood clots
  • Occurs when a blood clot blocks blood vessels in
    the brain.
  • Leads to lack of oxygen going to brain cells
    which is a condition called ischemia.

Hemorrhagic Stroke
  • Occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bursts
    and blood spills into surrounding tissues.
  • Common cause is a bleeding aneurysm.
  • Rupture of encrusted artery walls.
