In 1965, new building for the Commercial and
National Banks of Ethiopia were constructed. This
set commemorates these building as well as the 35
anniversary of the Bank of Abyssinia, the
forerunner of these banks.

agricultural, transportation and international
political progress.

pays the correct internal rate from 1961 to 1967.
830 November 1966 20th Anniversary of UNESCO
WHO New Headquarters
These two commemorative sets were jointly issued
on the same day. The two United Nations
Educational, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) stamps depict a map of
Africa and a UNESCO logo. The Two World Health
Organization (WHO) depict the new WHO
headquarters building in Geneva, Switzerland.

Djibouti-Addis Ababa Railroad
This set commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the
Djibouti-Addis Ababa Railroad. Each stamp depicts
a diesel locomotive flanked by Menelik II, who
started the railroad, and Emperor Hailé Selassié.
50 cents pays the correct air mail rate to

This set highlights butterflies that are found in

1221 July 1967 75th Birthday of the Emperor
This set celebrated His Imperial Majesty Hailé
Selassié's 75th birthday. Each stamp depicts the
Emperor and the Lion of Judah mastiff bearing the
royal standard.
The 1 franking over pays the registered air mail
rate to South Africa by 15 cents. Postally
traveled philatelic first day cover bearing the
75th Birthday sheetlet. Only 20,000 of these
souvenir sheetlets were issued.

Conference
The second international conference on the Global
Impact of Applied Microbiology was held in Addis
Ababa on 6-12 November 1967. Each stamp depicts
the flag of Ethiopia and a microscope.

Lufthansa Frankfurt to Addis Ababa route. Note

This set was issued to call attention to the
