  • Alaska is home to different cultures including
    the Alaskan Natives, Russians,Americans, and
    British.
  • Gold Rushes occurred all through the 1800s.
  • Many of its wild animals include polar bears and
    wolves.
  • Rhode Island could fit into Alaska 425 times.
  • The forgive-me-not is the state flower.
  • Alaskas constitution was adopted in 1956.
  • 17 of the 20 highest peaks in the United States
    are in Alaska.
  • The states largest city is Anchorage, while the
    2nd largest is Fairbanks.

    place every year in Alaska. Owners of these dogs
    train them year round for the big race that
    starts in the beginning of March and lasts, at
    the longest, for 32 days.
  • Every year since 1973 the Iditarod race has
    grown.It has become so well known that the best
    mushers can earn thousands of dollars a year form
    corporate sponsors.
  • The first race to Nome was on March 3,1973.

    Lights.
  • The images in the aurora are colorful and
    fast-moving, captured by incredibly sensitive
    television cameras.
  • These cameras can catch the faintest shimmer of
    light in a dark sky.
  • The scientists love these cameras because its
    proven to be a powerful tool for studying
    auroras.
  • People watching an aurora can possibly hear
    them.
  • As soon as the August rains let up in interior
    Alaska, people are able to see the Northern
    Lights, although they last year round.

    Fairbanks,Alaska, and many places in Eastern
    Canada.
  • To see the most aurora, travel to Europe,
    Iceland, or Northern Scandinavia.
  • The best time of year to view the aurora is
    around the equinox (March and late September
    through October).
  • Mild weather and dark skies are the best
    conditions to see it.
