Activity Instructions

• Each student will receive their own basket filled
  with apples of different colors.
• When you receive your basket do not touch it
  until I give you further instructions.

Answer Sheet Directions

• Everyone should have received a sheet of paper to
  write down your answers on.
• Lets put our names on our paper right now!
• You will be answering several questions about
  your basket of apples.
• When you have your answer be sure to write it
  down on your paper.

Lets Sort Our Apples!

• First count how many apples are in your basket
  altogether.
• Then count how many red apples there are.
• Next count how many green apples there are.
• Finally, count how many yellow apples there are.

Time To Fill In Your Data

• Lets do that right now!
• Now we need to write down the answers we all came
  up with.
• Double-check your answers to make sure they are
  correct.

Graphs and Data

• The information that you have written down about
  your apple basket can be illustrated as a graph.
• It is simply a different way of reading the
  information.

Graphing Our Apples

• You will be handed out several apple cut-outs of
  all three colors along with a piece of
  construction paper that has a graph on it.
• You will also be given a glue stick so that you
  can glue these apples onto the graph.
• Look at your answer sheet and find out how many
  apple cut-outs you need of each color.
• Once you have found the answer start putting your
  apples on the graph.
• Apples of a single color should be arranged in a
  vertical line.
• Once you have completed the first color go on to
  the second. The columns of apples should be right
  next to each other.

• You can use a Venn Diagram to show various
  information.
• For, example we could use this Venn Diagram to
  show who likes what kind(s) of apples.
• Do you like to eat red, yellow, or green apples.
• Or maybe you like them all!
