Title: Podenco ibicenco
1Podenco ibicenco
2A friend is for ever.......or not
- Unfortunately, the reality in Spain is that
there are dogs that are not considered friends
3They are work tools and as any tool they are
stored till the day they are needed
4Chained
5Their daily life is always the same, sleep, wake
up, eat and drink (sometimes)
6Their excrements their bed
7And so one day and another, and another
8One day distinguishes itself from another only in
the weather
9But for some the fortune of knowing if it rains
or shines does not exist
10Others live in packs in total freedom freedom to
mate, to fight, to beg for food and
11... to get run over
12 They lead sad lives in the streets, hungry, sick
and often mistreated
13No-one cares about how much they suffer
14or how they end up
15Veterinaries? "Oh yes, I know what they are but,
do tools get sick?
16Some do get vaccinated and get care when they
become sick, but most of them do not.
17"A podenco must be hungry all year round so when
the hunting season starts, it hunts (Hunters
statement)
18During the hunting season they get fed more
regularly so that they do not eat the rabbits
they hunt.
19The day the get to hunt is a party for them, the
routine is broken and they can finally run free
in the woods
20Although not all of them come back, some stayed
behind roaming in the wilderness.
21The rest, back to the old routine. To sleep, to
wake up, to eat, to drink and TO BREED.

24The puppies
25- Podencos are discarded when - they are no good
at hunting-and they are no good for breeding
26- Among the breeders and hunters there is no
consideration at all for the puppies that do not
show a marked hunting instinct very early on,
and they get rid of them with no qualms.
27The useless dogs end up run over, killed by
their owners orat the dog pound,
28... that, after all, is the best home they have
ever known but ...
29- ... where they have the risk of falling into the
hands of another hunter like the one before. And
everything starts again
30Let us give them an opportunity to heal their
wounds... ...
31Because the ones that were not good for hunting
- ... they know how to love ....
32And to make friends...
33Let us give an opportunity to that animal that
needs it so much ....
- ... And that will be so thankful for it

36About the podenco ibicenco They are very
noble, non aggressive, calm dogs and the majority
can live very well with other dogs and cats.
Their loyalty and thankfulness to their
guardians are boundless. In Spain the adoptions
of podencos ibicencos as house companions
practically never happen...
