ST. VINCENTS HOUSE
Our Mission
St. Vincents Episcopal House is a social service
mission of the Diocese of Texas. It began in 1954
under the direction of Rev. Fred Sutton of St.
Augustine of Hippo as an outreach Ministry of
that parish.
 St. Vincents House provides daycare and early
childhood education for up to 100 children, 2-5
years of age from families of low to moderate
income. The intent is top quality childcare to
the working poor and persons moving from welfare
to the work at an affordable cost.

A Place Where Healing Begins
FREE CLINIC
In partnership with the University of Texas
Medical Branch, St. Vincents House offers free
primary care to those men, women and children who
might otherwise go without medical care or
treatment.
The Primary Care Clinic is staffed and
administered by volunteer UTMB medical students
and supervised by faculty members.

Well-Woman Clinic Fills Healthcare Gap in
Community
  • The Womans Wellness Clinic
  • When Every Monday at St. Vincents House
  • Time 10 a.m. 2 p.m.
  • Cost Free to Women of All Ages
  • Services General health screening and education,
    treatment for infections, basic womens health
    problems, mammograms and family planning.
    Services are provided in cooperation with UTMB
    physicians and staff.

available to 25,000 households in Galveston
County via Comcast Cable and on our In-House
Network.

Touching the Lives of Island Residents
  • Transportation Services
  • The St. Vincents House Van is a Life Line to
    the community, delivering more than 2,100 meals
    in 2000 and making more than 3,500 pickups.
  •  
  • The Transportation Program provides a means for
    low income residents, senior citizens, medical
    patients and children of the area to reach much
    needed medical care, doctor and business
    appointments.
  •  
  • The Transportation Program also provides the
    delivery of hot meals to the elderly and disabled
    as an extension of Meals on Wheels.

St. Vincents House was on call for victims of
Hurricane Ike and we continue to serve those who
need medical and food transportation.

Touching the Lives of Island Residents
  • Emergency Assistance
  • St. Vincents House provides small grants to
    individuals and families in crisis situations
    such as pending evictions, utility cutoffs, or
    other household emergencies.
  • Food Pantry
  • Food Pantry provides canned goods and
    non-perishable food items to needy members of the
    community. At Thanksgiving, volunteers and staff
    provide food baskets with turkey and all of the
    fixings to community residents.
  •  Referrals
  • Working in conjunction with the networks of
    social service, health and charitable agencies,
    St. Vincents House provides appropriate referral
    information and contacts to Galveston agencies
    that are able to assist.
