  • Student Handbook
  • And
  • Building Policies

2
Welcome! It is time to begin another year at OMS,
and we would like to familiarize you with some
key points and changes in our student handbook.
3
Dress Code
  • Most restrictions are self explanatory, but we
still have provided this slide show to illustrate
some of the points of emphasis with our dress
    code.

4
One of the more chronic offenses that we have
dealt with over the past few years concerns pants
not worn around the waist. This picture may be
extreme, but we have seen students who have worn
pants similar to those in the picture.
5
  • Pants must be worn with the belt line above the
hip bone and below the navel. This should not
only be more comfortable and safer, it is also
how the clothes were designed to be worn.
  • Oversize or excessively baggy jeans are not
allowed and can be a safety issue.

6
Other Dress Code Items
  • Skirts and shorts must at least extend to the
tips of the fingertips when arms are placed
straight and at the sides of the body.
  • Sleeveless shirts are not permitted nor are
shirts with plunging necklines. Underwear is not
    to be visible.
  • Pajama bottoms are not permitted.

7
  • Shirts should not expose the midriff even if the
arms are raised. No midriff shirts are
    permitted.

Coats and jackets must be left in the students
locker.
8
  • Slippers are not permitted.
  • Frayed hems and pants with holes at the knee or
    above are not permitted.
  • Please read over your students handbook and
make sure you are familiar with the Code of
  • Conduct.

9
Students have 4 minutes to get to each class.
This is plenty of time to go to their locker and
arrive on time without running.
10
Electronic Devices
  • Unless specifically requested by a teacher for a
class, all electronic devices are to be left at
home. The District is not responsible for lost
or stolen electronic devices brought to school.
If electronic devices (including cell phones) are
seen, or are in use during the school day, the
item may be confiscated and placed in the office.
Violations can be dealt with as insubordination
as listed in the Student Code of Conduct.
Contents of cell phones may be searched if there
exists a reasonable suspicion that it may have
been used in an activity prohibited by the
Student Code of Conduct. All electronic devices
confiscated by school officials will be labeled
    and secured in the office.

QUESTIONS??
  • If you have any questions about the handbook
or its contents, please email us (see our web

730 AM and 330 PM. The website is always a
