Sponsorship is a partnership between two
parties who come together to support a
particular individual, activity, event or
publication. Advantages for UHSU -Raises funds
or provides a service that otherwise we might not
have.

The Society as a whole
Hardware, equipment
Raffles/ Competitions ( By giving prizes)
Transport, i.e.to/from the event
Posters/Leaflets

Media posters, banners, website, t-shirts,
word of mouth, plasma screens, kit etc. Talk
about your Brand reach - how many people are in
your society? - how many people attend events
etc? - how many people see your posters, strip,
equipment etc.

Create PR
Target a specific audience
Build brand loyalty
Raise brand awareness/ Association
Enhance/ change an image
Differentiation from competitors
Can be a cost effective form of advertising

  • Before you target a potential sponsor you need to
    have decided the following
  • What the event/ activity will be
  • What items can be sponsored
  • Who your target audience is/ who it will involve
  • What you can offer to the potential sponsor that
    will be of interest to them

  • Remember when you secure sponsorship you are
    associating UHSU
  • and the society with that sponsor.
  • Sponsors should reflect the core values of the SU
  • diversity, responsibility etc.

Although you can search for your own sponsor (
with approval from The Students union ),
remember we have our own vast list of
contacts. So fill out that form which can be
found on the Societies webpage.

Make sure you are meeting your side of the
agreement Be organized, have someone in charge
of the sponsorship agreement and know who is
doing what e.t.c. Ensure all materials with the
sponsors logo on is sent to them for proofing
before being used. Keep sponsors informed of
any progress and changes in the agreement and
in the society e.g. send newsletters, photos,
flyers etc. Think about future sponsorship,
hard work in one year may mean a lot less
work the next year Manage your relationship
keep in touch, listen.
