  • This presentation will be completed by your table
    group.
  • You will write and perform a skit, of two four
    people having a conversation.
  • Skit should be 1 2 minutes long
  • Skit must contain a communication error
  • Missed information, incorrect response
  • Skit must be APPROPRIATE.
  • Any inappropriate / offensive material will earn
    an automatic ZERO.

The Error
  • This error is happening in the listening process.
    Each person is attaching a different meaning to
    the word Who
  • The manager is saying Who as the name of the
    man on first.
  • The fan is saying who as a question

The Barriers
  • Speaker Barrier neither speaker is encoding
    their message properly.
  • Internal Barrier as the skit goes on each
    character gets more frustrated, blocking them
    from understanding.

Causes
  • The Speaker is not using clear, descriptive
    language.
  • The Listener is not paraphrasing or clarifying
    well.
  • The word Who is too vague.

Solutions
  • The Listener could ask
  • I want to know the name of the man who is on
    first base. (Who) Did you ask me a question, or
    are you responding to mine?
  • The Listener could ask
  • Are you saying, that the man on firsts name is
    Who. He is named Who?
  • Speaker could say
  • The Man who is on first is named Who.
  • W-H-O is his name.
