Title: Camera Angles

1
Camera Angles
  • Digital Still Story

2
Birds Eye
  • Bird's-eye has a feeling of detachment, of being
literally above it all. Functionally, they're
invaluable for orienting viewers to complicated
action because they function as maps of the
    shooting environment.

3
High Angle
  • In this shot the camera looks down on the
subject, decreasing its importance. The subject
looks smaller. It often gives the audience a
sense of power, or makes the subject seem
    helpless.

4
Neutral
  • One of the most commonly used shots is the
eye-level shot. Why? Because it's the perspective
most familiar to us - we usually see things from
our own eye-level. This angle also causes the
least discomfort because we're used to it.

5
Low Angle
  • In this shot the camera looks up at the subject,
making it seem important, powerful, or perhaps
larger than it is to the viewer.

6
Worms Eye
  • Worms eye view approximates the points of view
of smaller subjects like children and pets.

7
Wide Shots/Close Shots
  • Wide shots literally show us the big picture,
revealing who and what is in it and the spatial
    relationships among them.
  • Close shots tend to be intense. Moving in on a
subject enhances its importance. The bigger a
subject is in the frame, the closer viewers pay
    attention.
