Science Binder

• Every student must bring their Science Binder to
  class every day and take home every night!
• Keep binder organized and neat.
• I keep a Science Binder on the front lab table
  for students. If they are absent, students can
  see what assignments they missed!

• We are working on getting every student a
  textbook to keep at home.
• Textbooks are available for checkout!!

DWP Agenda

• Every student must have their Agenda in class
  every day.
• Note Science Learning Goals
• Note assignments
• Note homework
• Note projects
• Note upcoming due dates
• MAKE YOUR DAY points
• Parents should check agendas every evening!

Grades

• Check grades using

• Check graded work section in Science Binder
• Email me or call for a progress report. I can
  email or send a copy home with the student.

• Parent signature required

Homework

• In 8th grade, students will have homework almost
  every night
• Parents check their agenda every night for
  assignments! Do not accept the answer,
  nothing.
• Or you can check my website on DWPS Homepage.

Late Work

• By District Policy
• However
• I will accept late work and grade accordingly
• ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS turn in assignments even
  if they are LATE!

Failed Exams and Projects

• Any failed MAJOR grade must be corrected. This
  includes
• Unit Tests
• Unit Projects
• Exams
• Test Corrections
• Due 3 days AFTER student has received grade
• Use test correction handout.
• Staple test correction handout to the original
  test
• Parent Signature Required

Tutorials

• Was your child ABSENT from class?
• Does your child need a little help or more time
  to complete assignments?
• Does your child need to complete test
  corrections?
• Does your child need help organizing their
  Science Binders?

• Science Tutorials are held EVERY DAY from 8-840
  in D102
• And, after school on Tuesday Thursday from
  4-5pm in D102
• Tutorial Passes are available on the
• front shelf. Please take as many as you want for
  your child. ?

Science Fair Project

• Required by all 8th Grade Students
• I will work with them on one section at a time
  and conference with every student at each stage
• Science Fair Tutorials will be held in the
  Library. During these tutorials students will
  have access to supplies needed for the project.
• Letter coming soon with due dates for each stage
  of the project
• Final Project will be due BEFORE we go on Winter
  Break

Science Benchmarks TAKS

• Beginning this year
• Science Benchmarks will be given at the end of
  each unit..
• Benchmark Test are
• an indicator of student learning and are used to
  help students prepare for the 8th Grade TAKS test
  on May 1st.

Science TAKS Tutorials

• Hands-on lessons designed to improve student TAKS
  scores
• Held 2 days a week after school from 4-5pm
• Door Prizes and Snacks
• Letter coming soon with more information
