ECIS Program Mission
  • To increase the number of qualified personnel to
    serve young children with disabilities and their
    families. In particular, the program seeks to
    prepare personnel with the skills necessary to be
    effective members of  interdisciplinary teams
    that operate from a developmental  framework and
    that incorporate a family-guided approach
    to service delivery

Early Childhood Intervention Specialist (ECIS)
License
  • Qualifications
  • Hold a bachelors degree in any field
  • Can hold a current teaching license/certificate,
    but not necessary because the ECIS is an initial
    license
  • Entry into SPED masters degree program or entry
    into special non-degree program (no more than 12
    credits go towards masters degree)
  • Program requirements (41 to 66 graduate credits)
  • Up to seven (7) curriculum courses (e.g.,
    reading, math, science, expressive arts, social
    studies, and sign language) See ECIS faculty for

    KSU
  • Eligible for entrance into the combined program
    (will need to meet special non-degree or masters
    degree requirements by the December of senior
    year or after first semester as a combined
    student)
  • Typical student will complete requirements for
    bachelor's degree at the end of fall semester
    during their senior year, but will not be
    eligible for licensure until the end of spring
    semester during the 5th year (i.e., following
    successful student teaching)
  • Program requirements (41 graduate credits)
