Year 7 Castles Things to do

• Create a model / design of a castle.
• You need to produce a written piece of work to
  support your castle design that answers the
  following
• Why were castles necessary?
• Where were they built and why?
• What were their weaknesses and how were they
  overcome?
• Research the history of some named castles?
• How do these castles reflect changes through
  the ages?
• You need to record the resources
• and websites you have
• used for your work.

Year 7 Castles extended task

• You will have a number of weeks to complete this
  piece of work.
• The work will involve you having to carry out a
  number of tasks.
• Your teacher will give you a completion date
  which you will record in your planner.
• Your ATL level and attainment levels will be
  influenced by the effort that you put into this
  work.
• Staff may contact your parents to monitor your
  progress.

Criteria for Different Levels

• Level 3 marks 2- 4/10
• Shows an ability to place features of castles in
• chronological order
• Identifies an understanding of key words
• Level 4 marks 5- 6/10
• Shows a greater sense of chronology
• Uses at least two castles within your work to
  show
• the changes over a period of time.
• Level 5 marks 7- 8/10
• Displays an understanding of change including key
  examples from
• the castles which have been studied.
• Is able to show why castles developed in a
  structured format.
• Level 6 marks 9- 10/10
• Is able to describe the differences between
  different castles.
• Selects and deploys information to produce
  structured work.
