  • The Building a Healthier Chicago Worksite
    Wellness Committee (WWC) strives to support
    Chicagoland employers in improving the health and
    productivity of their employees and families.
  • Committee Objectives
  • Educate employers of the BHC initiative to
    promote physical activity, healthy eating, and
    the detection, prevention and control of high
    blood pressure
  • Identify and share current best practices for
    worksite wellness
  • Identify resources, tools and implementation
    strategies to support worksite wellness programs

Project Overview
  • Raise awareness of the key components of
    successful Worksite Wellness programs and the
    Building a Healthier Chicago initiative
  • Offer tools to assess and provide a gap analysis
    of a companys wellness program efforts to date,
    and recommendations on how time and resources
    should be allocated
  • Recognize and reward employers of all sizes for
    their successful efforts in Worksite Wellness

  • The WWC Executive Committee conducted a one-year
    research project to identify employer best
    practices in worksite wellness
  • Research explored industry information and best
    practices including
  • National, state and city efforts in
    prevention/wellness
  • Employer best practices and case studies
  • Industry assessment tools
  • Industry web sites, programs, benchmarks
  • Award recognition program procedures

  • Finalize Assessment Tool Fall 2009
  • Version 1 for small employers those with basic
    wellness programming and/or just starting out
  • Version 2 for mid to large employers those with
    mature and comprehensive programming
  • Create Worksite Wellness Guide Finalize early
    2010
  • Launch Assessment Tool 1/10
  • Recognize Award Winners 4/10
  • Provide Support to Employers - Ongoing
