13Key Findings Next Steps
- Math 50 and Math 51 SI effective form of
academic support. - Math 96 2nd semester of supporting with SI with
up side down results (2 different instructors) - Next step BSI funds will support M96 in
the Spring 2009. We are researching possible
causes of the up-side-down results in order to
determine if M96 will continue to be SI supported
at MVC. - Hypothesis i.e.
possibility due to under-prepared M90 entering
M96 -
- - test preppers 1 to 4 sessions attendees
- Summer session SI 4 sections SU08 with little
or no success- summer students tend to be
stronger academically - Next step MVC will not run SI in future
summer sessions - Increases success rate
- Selection of courses are data based driven -- BSI
funded - 3 classes (math 50,51,96) as a result SI
courses will be offered in other identified
difficult subjects for basic skills students - history (FA08,SP09) psychology
(FA08,SP09) Spanish (SP09) - ? Spring 2009 BSI funds are supporting M51, M90,
M96 - SI growth sources
