Brief History

• GUC has traditionally had 3/2 year programs (
  Bachelor degree programs)
• Master's degree program in media technology since
  2001
• Master's degree program in information security
  since 2003

College Level Experiences

• Easier to establish specialized Master's degree
  programs
• Extended student recruitment base
• Harder to keep students after completing their
  Bachelor program (at least in good times)
• Difficult to "prepare" Bachelor degree students
  for the Master's years

Program Level Experiences

• 32 means that we got 3 semesters to "upgrade"
  the students to a Master's level
• Hard to form the students' academic abilities and
  habit
• Hard to achieve a good balance between program
  depth and breath and good program coherence
• Hard to create social networks among students
• Lecturers are unfamiliar with fourth and fifth
  grade students lacking academic abilities and
  habits
