HACAN Background

• Formed in Dec. 06
• Group of 12-15 people since formation.
• Our Purpose To unite people who live, work,
  and/or worship in Hudson and surrounding towns to
  organize local actions to reduce CO2 and other
  greenhouse gas emissions that are the primary
  cause of global warming pollution.

HACAN Activity History

• Approached our muni utility provider, HLP, to
  request a green power option on the customer
  bill.
• -Informed that the billing software prohibited.
• -Connected with Larry Chretian, ED, Mass Energy
  Consumer Alliance who provided technical
  assistance and worked directly w/HLP to
  communicate options.
• -HLP took initial step which was to partner with
  NE Wind Fund to offer a green-power option (March
  07)

HACAN Activity History

• 2) Held two community educational presentations
  of the Climate Project (Al Gores slide show)
  in April 07.
• 3) Started a petition to encourage town officials
  to join CCP and prepare implement a CAP.
• 4) Participated in two community events to
  increase awareness, secure signatures, and secure
  new members (May, June)

HACAN Current Campaign

• Petition campaign in progress (target 500
  signatures)
• Working to have town officials pass resolution to
  join CCP and establish a Climate Action Committee
  (who will engage in CCP 5-step process)
