2How
to live in the
flow
3The wife of a man from the company of the
prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my
husband is dead, and you know that he revered the
LORD. But now his creditor is coming to take my
two boys as his slaves."Elisha replied to her,
"How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in
your house?" "Your servant has nothing there at
all," she said, "except a little oil."Elisha
said, "Go around and ask all your neighbours for
empty jars. Don't ask for just a few. Then go
inside and shut the door behind you and your
sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is
filled, put it to one side."She left him and
afterward shut the door behind her and her sons.
They brought the jars to her and she kept
pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to
her son, "Bring me another one."But he replied,
"There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped
flowing. She went and told the man of God, and he
said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You
and your sons can live on what is left."

7Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are
you not aware of what the law says? For it is
written that Abraham had two sons, one by the
slave woman and the other by the free woman. His
son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary
way but his son by the free woman was born as
the result of a promise. These things may be
taken figuratively, for the women represent two
covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and
bears children who are to be slaves This is
Hagar. Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia
and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem,
because she is in slavery with her children. But
the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is
our mother. For it is written "Be glad, O
barren woman, who bears no children
break forth and cry aloud, you who have no
labor pains because more are the children of
the desolate woman than of her who has a
husband."
Galations 421-51

8Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of
promise. At that time the son born in the
ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power
of the Spirit. It is the same now. But what does
the Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman
and her son, for the slave woman's son will never
share in the inheritance with the free woman's
son." Therefore, brothers, we are not children of
the slave woman, but of the free woman. It is
for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand
firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened
again by a yoke of slavery.

27The word of the LORD came to me, saying,Before
I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you
were born I set you apartI appointed you as a
prophet to the nations."Ah, Sovereign LORD," I
said, "I do not know how to speak I am only a
child."But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I
am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send
you to and say whatever I command you. Do not be
afraid of them, for I am with you andI will
rescue you," declares the LORD.Then the LORD
reached out his hand and touched my mouth and
said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your
mouth.
