• Topic Question How can teachers help parents to
  help their child with emotional disabilities
  succeed in school.
• Purpose To help parents to learn ways to help
  their children with emotional disabilities
  succeed in school.

Definition of Emotional Disabilities

• Individuals with Disabilities Education Act
  (IDEA), Public Law 101-476 defines emotional
  disabilities as the following
• (i) The term means a condition exhibiting one or
  more characteristics over a long period of time
   (ii) The term includes schizophrenia. The term
  does not apply to children who are socially
  maladjusted, unless it is determined that they
  have an emotional disturbance

• That teachers will be able to give some
  suggestions on how parents can help their
  children with emotional disabilities succeed in
  school.

Conclusion

• Teachers do have suggestions for parents on how
  they might help their child or children with
  emotional disabilities.
• There is also not one set way of helping a child
  with emotional disabilities.
• There are many different things that a parent can
  do to help their child.
