Built on existing technology
  • VirtualBox makes use of QEMU in two ways first
of all, some of the virtual hardware devices have
their origin in the QEMU project. Secondly, the
developers incorporated the recompiler of QEMU as
a fallback mechanism for situations where the
Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) cannot correctly
handle a certain situation. This holds true for
guest code that executes in real mode (such as
bootup) and some rare scenarios at runtime.

8
Flexible with other VM software
  • VMware
  • Able to open and create VMware virtual machines
  • VirtualPC
  • Able to open and create VirtualPC virtaul
    machines
  • This is done through the Virtual Disk Manager
