Consortium
6Why have articulation agreements?
They provide
- a jump start for students
- seamless transition for students
- elimination of course duplication
- a means to save money for college credit
7What are the differences?
- Articulation
- The college credit is pending until after high
school graduation and until the student enrolls
at the community college in a career and
technical education program of study or in the
apprenticeship program.
- Dual Credit
- Students earn the college credit immediately
after completing the high school course taught
with the college level competencies. Credit is
placed on a college transcript during high school.
8What are the similarities?
Students
- must make a grade of a B or better
- must meet 80 or more of the college course
competencies - do not pay tuition costs for classes
- do not pay for text books
- save time by not duplicating college course work
9Understand your Consortium
- Every Tech Prep Consortium in Missouri is
governed by a community college, two-year
technical college, school district, or the
carpenters apprenticeship. - They do not all offer college credit in the same
manner. But most do go through a similar process
for granting articulation agreements for either
articulating credit or offering dual credit.
