Title: The History Of The Ford Mustang

1
The History Of The Ford Mustang
2
1964
  • The origins of the original 1964 1/2, 101
horsepower Mustang was the humble Ford Falcon.
Officially, the car was released in April 1964
    and called a 1965 model.

1965

The 1967 and 1968 Ford Mustang, considered by
many people as best Mustang pre 2000 series, was
also the last "small Mustang", until the
introduction of the disappointing Mustang II.
1968
1967

Ford aptly described this series as "A steed for
every need" and this was an accurate description
for this new "mini Thunderbird Mustang" model
which was nearly six inches larger than the
original.
1969
1970
5
The 1971 series Mustang was the largest and
heaviest Mustang ever produced. They were 14"
longer and nearly 800 pounds heavier than the
original Mustang.
1971
1973
6
Many collectors consider the Mustang II the worst
Mustang ever made, but the reality is that this
car became one of Ford's most important models
during a very difficult time.
1974
1977
7
1979
Some people might argue that the 1979 to 1993
Mustang was essentially the same car.
1981

1983
1984
The 1982 to 1986  Mustang was very similar to the
1979 design but this series reintroduced the
Mustang convertible which was released in 1982 as
either a late 1982 or early 1983 model.
1985
9
1989
One of the things that made Mustang such a
successful car for Ford Motor Co. was the fact
that the car could be so many things to so many
people.
1993

1995
Computer aided design played a bigger role in the
engineering of this Mustang than ever before.
Today, in six hours one engineer can do more
structural testing and design then a team of 10
engineers taking two weeks would have done back
in 1964.

2003-2004
Todays Mustang

SVT Cobra
Today's SVT convertible and hard top Mustang will
probably reach 100 kilometers in about 4.7
seconds and can conceivably reach a top speed of
170 miles per hour.

The new 2005 Ford Mustang, set to arrive in the
spring of 2004, is an all-new and extremely
exciting Mustang.
