Ohio River Valley
  • Extends from the Northern Panhandle down the
    Western side of the state.
  • Follows the Ohio River
  • Includes the Metro Valley and is the most densely
    populated area of West Virginia
  • Two key cities are Charleston and Huntington.

Allegheny Plateau
  • Extends through the middle of the state and
    includes Mountaineer Country.
  • Also located here, part of the New River Valley
    and Greenbrier Valley.
  • Here is this level land and it is rich in coal,
    oil, and other natural resources.
  • Two key cities here are Morgantown and Beckley.

Allegheny Highlands
  • Eastern part of West Virginia that includes the
    Potomac Highlands.
  • Mountains here get up to 4,000 feet.
  • Here you can enjoy some of the greatest hiking,
    biking, and rock climbing as well as white water
    rafting.
  • Here you can find Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob
  • Two key cities here are Snowshoe and Elkins

Potomac Section
  • Includes the Eastern Panhandle and the Eastern
    border of West Virginia.
  • Here you find the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
  • Here is some of the most fertile soil, wetlands,
    and rolling farmlands.
  • Also, the Eastern Panhandle is one of the most
    industrialized places in WV.
  • Two key cities here are Martinsburg and Berkley
    Springs
