Integration of Electronic Journals

• MetaLib provides access to all of the
  institutions resources, including e-journals
• E-journal file is imported into MetaLib (JNL01)

• Users may browse or search the e-journal list and
  add e-journals to their list of resources, under
  a dedicated e-journals section
• Users may link to e-journals (MetaLib Link
  connectivity)
• The link to e-journals is done via SFX to ensure
  accuracy and provide statistical information

Importing E-Journals to MetaLib

• Importing e-journals
• Currently, the e-journal list is imported from
  the SFX KnowledgeBase
• In the future, import will also be available from
  the institutions library system or another
  database

Importing E-Journals to MetaLib

• E-journals file is created in SFX
• File name should be -jnl.xml
• Loading a new file in JNL01
• UTIL N-1 loads e-journals file into an empty
  JNL01 database
• dlib jnl01
• util n
• 1
• After file is loaded, procedure changes name of
  file to __jnl.xml in
  ./jnl01/import

Maintaining E-Journals in MetaLib

• UTIL N-1 will update JNL01 in MetaLib from a new
  SFX export file
• Existing records are updated
• E-journals deleted from SFX are deleted from
  JNL01, and from user records
