Philosophy Statements
I believe that Detail is a key component that
can make or break any project. Being flexible
and easy going is important for happiness in the
ever changing and creative fashion
industry. Asking questions, taking risks, and
trying new ideas can help understand and
complete projects. Hard work and challenges
shine through as quality and confidence in the
end.
4
Career Goals
  • To improve my computer aided design skills and to
hold an associate position in which I can
    contribute to the company.
  • To continue learning new technology in the field
and use it in my career.
  • To meet people in the field with whom I can
    relate and build lasting relationships.
  • To have opportunities for long or short term
    duties abroad.

Computer Aided Design
Using U4ia by Lectra Systems, Adobe Dreamweaver,
Photoshop, and Illustrator, I created a
nonfunctional website. The website is aimed at 9
to 15 year olds who want to dress young but are
also wanting to be like their older sisters or
girls at their school. The items on the
Bottoms page, Tops page, title, and logo were
all created in U4ia by me, while the other sale
items were photos that I took of my own
accessories and edited in Photoshop.
8
Adobe Design
I created a collection for teenage boys in the
upper middle class market using Adobe Photoshop
and Adobe Illustrator. The theme for this
collection was boy meets girl and the title of
the collection was Betty playing off the term
used for girl, as each story includes at least
one graphic of a female.
9
Illustration
In this project, I compiled visual stimuli to
make trend boards. I used these boards as
inspiration for a collection of marker
drawings. The collection is for college age
girls who want to be sporty and comfortable
while still looking cute. The clothes in the
collection would be ideal for working out,
relaxing, or sleeping. Some of the pieces
could be worn to class or shopping and have
potential for being dressed-up or down.
10
Mood Board
During my internship, I created a mood board and
six garments that would fit with the company as a
personal project. I created this mood board by
scanning magazine pictures into Adobe Photoshop
and editing and overlapping them. I used organic
lines and natural objects that were also
edgy. The color palette I got from it included
blues, teal, grey, orange, coral, and magenta.
The accessories would be natural woods, and the
fabric would be organic cotton. I designed a
sample look book cover for Bracewell with the
same concept, but using photos of women who were
included in trend boards I created.
11
Mixed Media
Several forms of media were used to create the
following designs. For the purple dress, I used
paint, blue and purple puffy paint, and Nerds
candy. The ballerinas dress was made from a cut
out magazine picture of a tree placed
upside-down. The hair is drawn on in
marker. The white shirt with birds and other
designs was cut out from a magazine, while the
purple shorts are electrical tape and the hair is
fuzzy fabric. The body is colored with red
marker. The mans outfit is a cardstock shirt
and bacon bandage shorts, while the woman next to
him wears a skirt made of ribbon and a nail
polish shirt. Their skin is silver crayon, and
both have hair made from rick rack.
12
Using a serger, I created this cropped hooded
sweatshirt. It is made out of orange heavy
weight stretch cotton jersey with purple and teal
contrast stitching and orange top stitching done
on a standard machine.
Apparel Construction
13
I created this skirt based on 30 hours of
research on German culture from 1930 to
2000.While the skirt is worn, you cannot see
the symbolism, however laid out flat and viewed
as artwork, you can see the symbols of the Nazi
Swastika and the Jewish Star of David. These
symbols were chosen because they represent the
groups most effected by World War II.The skirt
is made of red and white quilted cotton and
yellow and black rip stop nylon. The contrast in
fabrics was used to show the groups strengths as
well as the similarity of the groups human
mortality.
Symbolism in Design
14
Threads is an annual student run fashion show
done on the campus of Central Michigan
University.I designed this masquerade themed
dress and took it from the concept through to the
final stages of the design process for the 2007
show.I also designed a male outfit for the show
and was a designer in the 2008 show.
Threads Fashion Show

Graphic Design
These images were created to show contrasting
aspects of my personality girly and tomboy.
They all convey different moods. I scanned in
objects for the texture and images, and used
blend modes and photography to create the final
images in Adobe Photoshop.
16
Bracewell Internship
At Bracewell, a fashion company in Sydney,
Australia, I adjusted patters after fittings and
learned how to use the Gerber Systems digitizing
table. These are some photos of me during my
internship with Bracewell. During my internship,
I also used Adobe Photoshop for mood boards, did
trend forecasting, and created Microsoft Excel
spreadsheets.
17
I was able to merchandise racks for selling to
Bracewell clients. I participated in sales
meetings by arranging garments selected by the
clients for easier consideration.

Functional Design
This is work with the thermal camera, which shows
the right arm of the subject after being held
under cold running water for five minutes while
the rest of the body was in ambient
conditions. In addition to the thermal camera, I
was able to utilize a body scanner to get exact
measurements of a human form.
