Drawing Tools
5
Orthographic Drawing
  • A two dimensional drawing of an object that is
    viewed from one side
  • Hidden lines (dashed) are drawn to show areas of
an object that are not visible from the view
    taken of the object.

7
Orthographic Projection
  • A flattened drawing of an object with three sides
    drawn.
  • Front, Top and Right Side
  • Each drawing must be aligned properly.
  • Projection lines are drawn out from each side of
the object to assist with the drawing of the next
    view.

9
Isometric Projection
  • Object is drawn on a 300 angle
  • The three views from orthographic projects are
    used in the isometric drawing.
  • Hidden lines are used to show parts of the object
that cannot be seen from the chosen viewpoint.

One Point Perspective
  • The face of the object is in front of the viewer
and all orthogonal lines recede to one vanishing
    point.
  • The back of the object is drawn with parallel
    lines to the front.
  • As objects move closer to the vanishing point
    they appear smaller.

13
Two Point Perspective
  • The corner of the object faces the viewer and is
    drawn with a vertical line.
  • Orthogonal lines are drawn to two vanishing
points and the edges of the object are created
    with vertical lines.
  • As objects get closer to the horizon line they
    appear to become smaller.

15
Three Point Perspective
  • Similar to two point perspective except that
vertical lines are drawn to a third vanishing
    point.
  • Third vanishing point is determined by the
    baseline and point of sight.
  • The illusion of depth is enhanced by the third
    vanishing point.

Drawing Techniques
  • Hatching-parallel lines
  • Cross-hatching-parallel lines that cross over
    each other
  • Stippling-small dots
  • Gradient-shading
  • Value Scale-Gradual transitions from light to
    dark.
