What is Anxiety?
  • Feelings of fear or dread
  • Perspiration, trembling, restlessness, muscle
    tension
  • Rapid heart rate, lightheadedness, shortness of
    breath

Social Anxiety
  • Feeling uneasy in certain social circumstances.
  • Dont be so self critical
  • Start small smile, nod, make eye contact when
    spoken to, stay up to date on current events so
    you can create conversation

Strategies for managing day-to-day anxieties.
  • Redirect your energy
  • Do relaxation exercises
  • Engage in physical activity
  • Get support from family and friends.

Two types of depression
  • Reactive depression Response to a stressful
    event. (i.e. death of a friend). Personal
    finds a way to eventually manage the depression
  • Major depression Medical condition requiring
    treatment. Lasts longer than reactive. Can
    occur from reactive depression, chemical
    imbalance in brain, or genetic tendancy

  • Irritable or restless mood
  • Withdraw from friends
  • Change in appetite or weight
  • Feeling of worthlessness
  • A sense of hopelessness
