Image Importing
  • Fireworks can import the following formats
  • PNG, GIF, JPEG, PICT, BMP, TIFF, xRES, LRG,
ASCII, RTF, Adobe Photoshop 3, 4, and 5, Adobe
    Illustrator 7, Freehand 7,8, and9, uncompressed

  • How do I import Graphics?
  • File Import Find File
  • Vector File Options
  • When importing Vector images you have options in
    the Vector File options Box
  • Scale Specify the scale percentage of imported
    files
  • Width Height Specify in Pixels the width and
    height of imported files
  • Resolution
  • Anti-Alias
  • File Conversion This option specifies how many
multiple page documents are handled and imported.

  • Render as Images Rasterize (Convert to Bitmap)
complex groups, blends, or tiled fills and place
them as a single image object in Fireworks.

3
File Conversion Options
  • Open a Page Import only the specified page
  • Open Pages as Frames Import all the pages from
the document and place each on a separate frame
    in Fireworks
  • Remember Layers Maintain the layer structure of
    the imported file
  • Ignore Layers Delete the layer structure of the
imported file. All layers are placed on the
    currently selected layer.
  • Convert Layers to Frames Place each layer of the
imported document in a separate frame in
Fireworks. Do not select this when importing
    FreeHand files!
  • Include Invisible Layers Import objects on
layers that have been tuned off. Otherwise
    invisible layers are ignored.
  • Include background Layers Import objects from
the documents Background layer. Otherwise, the
    background layer is ignored.

Grouping and Ungrouping Objects
  • Once you complete a graphic, you might want to
group individual objects to protect their
relationship or a portion of a graphic.
  • Easier to work with one grouped object rather
than several individual lines and shapes.
  • When objects are grouped they can move together
and be manipulated as a single unit
  • Scale and rotate all objects in a group at the
    same time
  • Combine two groups which is known as nested
    grouping
  • How do I Group Objects?
  • Select Pointer Tool
  • Click upper left hand corner of canvas, Drag and
Select entire canvas and all object
  • Click Modify Menu
  • Click Group
  • Use the Sub-selection tool from the Tool Menu to
select individual objects in the group

5
Arranging the Stacking Order of Objects
  • Even when objects are grouped on the same layer
they can be stacked, one on top of other
  • The layers panel contains objects and you can
drag their position up or down on the Layers
    Panel
  • Or use the Arrange command on the Modify menu
  • Using the Info Panel
  • Provides information about the dimensions of
selected objects and the exact coordinates of the
pointer as you move it across the canvas
  • Use the Info Panel to size an object by using
    exact height and width dimensions
  • Also use the Property Inspector to do this
