• When you have a complex expression like
• It tells you the order you use to evaluate it.
• If you have an equation like

Parentheses

• Do all the work in the parentheses, if there are
  any, in PEMDAS order

• Multiply or divide as you go--left to right

Solving an equation using PEMDAS
To evaluate the expression, the first thing you
would do is multiply by 2. The next thing you
would do is subtract 7. To solve, the first
thing you do is the opposite, add 7. Next, divide
by 2.
