• Chihuly is an amazing glass blowing artist whose
  works are around the world.

Bibliography

• Born September 20, 1941 in Tacoma, Washington.
• He graduated from the University of Washington
• In a car accident in 1976, lost his vision in his
  left eye so cant blow glass himself and started
  one if the first teams of artists to work on the
  same piece.

Biography

• His brother died in the army and his father from
  a heart attack the next year.
• When he a teenager he joined a group of juvenile
  delinquents but got out of it.
• He is married to Leslie Jackson and has two kids.

Purpose of Art

• Each of his series have a purpose.
• His abstract flowers are a reminiscence of his
  mothers garden.
• The Seafoams, Boats, and Chandeliers are about
  his childhood and love for water.

Permanent Art

• Some series of his arts are Basket series,
  Macchia series, soft cylinder series, Persian
  series, Venetian series,Putti series, Ikebana
  series,
• The more famous ones are his Niijima floats and
  Chandelier series.

Glass Bowls

•  I had seen some beautiful Indian baskets at the
  Washington State Historical Society, and I was
  struck by the grace of their slumped, sagging
  forms. I wanted to capture this in glass. The
  breakthrough for me was recognizing that heat and
  gravity were the tools to be used to make these

  gravity and the properties of glass and color to

Famous Chandeliers

•  Id seen a chandelier in a restaurant in
  Barcelona when I was traveling. The chandelier
  was hanging at eye level. It was really
  beautiful. When you sat down to eat you looked
  underneath it, and it acted as a centerpiece for
  the table. I loved this idea of

  triggered something that said, I now can make a
  chandelier, because it doesnt have to be
  functional.

Water Works

• I love to be around water. There is no doubt in
  my mind that water is conducive to thought. Water
  allows me to be incredibly creative. The
  connections between glass and water are so
  unbelievable and so visual. I work with four
  materials, of any scaleglass, plastic, water,
  and ice. And it is really light that makes those
