EL/CIVICS

• A contextualized approach to language learning
• Students learn the right and duties of
  citizenship
• Students learn to advocate for themselves, their
  family, and for their communities
• Introduces students to the community
• Infused throughout the ESL program
• Beginning-of-the-quarter goal sheets inform
  teaching.

Limited English Pathway (LEP)

• Teachers must report when the student
• Has two or more absences a month (excuse slip
  must be signed and turned in)
• Has a need that is not being met
• Lack of progress
• Leaves the program and reason if known
• (The LEP Program Coordinator will send out an
  updated list of currently enrolled LEP students
  to you weekly)

IBEST

• Integrated Basic Education and Skills Training
• SCC Prof/Technical vocational programs
• SFCC Prof/Technical programs
• Advanced ESL students/ GED students
• College short term (2 quarters) certificate
• Skills training for local labor demand employment
  opportunities

Spanish Bilingual

• Tailored to the needs of Spanish speakers with
  low literacy backgrounds
• Offers ESL levels 1-4
• Bilingual Teachers
• Class offered in afternoon at AEC

• Tailored to the needs of the older learner
• Must be 55
• Winchester Court Fix Center

College Prep

• Open to students preparing for college entrance.
• Students must be advanced ESL, completing GED and
  show qualifying CASAS scores
• Study for the Asset/Compass tests (English,
  Writing and Math).

Tuition

• Who pays tuition?
• Tuition is 25 per quarter
• LEP students get tuition waiver (see LEP slide)
• Student who are unable to pay can fill out waiver
  (green form)
• All other students must pay by the end of quarter
