brother Darry took care of him and his other
brother Sodapop after their parents were killed
in a car accident. Ponyboy and his best friend,
Johnny Cade, are two of the main characters in
the story. Ponyboy is smart but the only thing he
wants is to escape his greaser life so he can be
    some one special in life.

The Beginning
  • In the beginning of the Outsiders Ponyboy is
telling a short story of his life. As he is
walking from the movies he is followed by a bunch
of socs who attack him and ask him does he need a
haircut? Just then Darry, Sodapop, and the rest
of the greasers show up. In the beginning
everyone is cool. They all know were they stand
    with the socs.

  • In the middle of the Outsiders Ponyboy gets into
it with the socs after running away from home.
The socs tried to kill Ponyboy and then Johnny
was forced to kill one of the socs so that they
let Ponyboy go. Now Johnny is on the run for
    murder.

The Climax
  • The climax of the story, the day of the rumble,
Ponyboy is confronted by Randy, one of the other
socs. He says he doesn't want to fight in the
rumble, that nothing good will come out of it. He
says that he is sick of fighting. After this
Randy and Ponyboy both have different ideas about
each other. Also Randy ends up not attending the
    fight.

robs a convenience store then pulls out an
