Haiku
  • Haiku is a form of Japanese poetry.
  • It was used to speak to the gods even before
    written language in Japan.
  • Was usually written in Chinese symbols.
  • The syllable count is 5-7-5 or 4-5-4.

History of Haiku
  • People began chanting to the gods in haiku in
    about 760 AD.
  • Haiku became the favorite of the imperial family
    during the 9th through 11th centuries.
  • It is unclear where Haiku was created, but trails
    lead back to Persia or India.
