    addressing by Trust as a matter of urgency.

Ag. 5 Information Governance
  • Key Points From Last County IG Forum Meeting
  • The Acute Trust IG Officer had been unable to
    commit fully to their IG role as they have been
    providing cover for Information Services. Now
    resolved.
  • Date now set for interviews for WHICTS
    Information Security Officer 11 Jan 2008
  • Worcs PCT IG Officer has left post to take up a
    new role in the organisation. This vacancy is set
    to be advertised soon.
  • David Nicholson has written (4th Dec 07) to all
    NHS CEOs regarding IG and esp. patient data
    transfers. A checklist of immediate actions to
    be taken for securing data in transit has been
    published by CfH in the form of the Good Practice
    Guidelines, which cover the transfer of person
    identifiable data by means of portable electronic
    media
  • Ian McGregor in his role as Information Security
    Officer has begun this work by emailing out to
    all senior managers and heads of services to
    urgently review arrangements that are currently
    in place where person identifiable data is sent
    in digital format. A subsequent report and action
    plan are to follow.
  • Issues Requiring Organisational Senior Management
    Attention
  • IG01 - Out of Hours RA Support - RA support will
    need to be provided for out of hours staff who
    require access to NHS Connecting for Health
    compliant applications
  • IG02 - WHICTS IG related policies - need
    renewing.
  • IG03 - Statement of Compliance - 17 key standards
    that all Trusts need to agree to before receiving
    access to the N3 network. At present, each Trust
    falls short on compliance in one area or another.
  • IG04 transfer of patient data David
    Nicholson, the Chief Executive of the NHS in
    England has written to all NHS Chief Executives
    about IG and transfers of patient data.
    Subsequent reports and action plans are to be
    produced urgently.
