  • -World War I consisted of Trench Warfare
  • Trench Warfare a type of combat in which the
    enemies fight from a system of trenches.
  • This warfare consisted of gas attacks and living
    in close quarters outside ready to fire at will.
    The area between the opposing sides trenches was
    referred to as no mans land.
  • Close your eyes, imagine what no mans land
    looked like, smelled like, felt like?

  • After your vivid description of no mans land,
    now tell me what you already know about Trench
    Warfare, or what you have heard or previously
    learned about Trench Warfare.

Trench Warfare
  • After watching the clip from DodgeBall draw any
    comparisons between the movie and the Trench
    Warfare system, try only to use the clip shown
    not your knowledge of the movie.

  • First Step Join two other classmates.
  • (Groups of Three (3))
  • Second Step Go to front of the classroom, take
    a key battle, summarize, everyone record summary
    in their own notes.
  • Third Step repeat cycle until the entire group
    has all the key battles from World War I group
    summaries copied into their notes.
  • Fourth Step Wait quietly for further directions.

    U.S. cargo ship, only time before war where
    German-U.S. relations are diplomatic.

  • Election of 1916 was about the War.
  • Jan 1916 Wilson tours the country promoting
    preparedness.
  • Jan 31 1917 Germany declared intentions to sink
    all non-German ships, military, passenger or
    cargo.
  • Zimmerman Telegram attempt by Germany to become
    allies with Mexico so the Mexicans would invade
    the U.S.
  • April 2, 1917 Wilson asked Congress for a
    declaration of War after he armed all American
    merchant ships.
