The Former Yugoslavia
  • Genocide that took place in 1980s and 1990s
  • Yugoslavia created after WWI and forced to become
    communist.
  • Different ethnic groups cant get along Croats,
    Slovenes, Macedonians, Serbs and Montenegrins
  • Also religious differences with Catholicism,
    Orthodoxy and Islam
  • When Soviet Union fell ethnic groups in Europe
    began demanding independence
  • Serbs had long seen the Balkan peninsula as
    their territory
  • Serbian troops (lead by Slobodan Milosevic)
    massacred Bosnian Muslims.
