Project objectives

• Propose UCAS form extension (new flexible
  framework for HE admissions) based on a range of
  user case studies across three HEIs
• Pilot transfer of data FE?HE, joining up personal
  development planning records
• Transfer enhanced learner information from UCAS
  into MLEs in three HEIs
• Develop a technical specification for an HE
  admissions process using IMS LIP

UCAS goals

• 100 electronic processes for enhanced admissions
  from 2006, conforming to interoperability
  specifications
• Clarifying how PDP processes will relate to
  application data and its uses in FE and HE
• Specific focus with each project HEI e.g.
  Nottingham review of personal statement in one
  recruiting and one selecting discipline

• For fair admissions under widening participation
  evidence of aptitude and potential as well as
  prior achievement
• Implications for approaches to learning and
  teaching in FE and HE (employability)
• Enhancing transition and retention, providing
  data for transfer into HE support systems
