Title: Marine Pollution Laboratory
1Marine Pollution Laboratory
2Physical Methods of Wastewater Treatment
Primary treatment
Secondary treatment
Nutrition.
Oxidation/Reduction.
Precipitation.
Adsorption.
Extraction. Sedimentation.
3Adsorption
It is the use of solids for removing Substances
from gaseous or liquid solutions.
Adsorption phenomena are operative in Most
natural physical, biological, and
chemical Systems, and adsorption operations
employing Solids such as activated carbon and
synthetic Resins are used widely in industrial
applications And for purification of water and
wastewaters

5ISOLATION OF SOME NATURAL PRODUCT MATERIALS
FROM SOME MARINE ALGAE
- Marine natural products have attracted the
attention of biologists and chemists the world
over for the past five decades. As a result of
the potential for new drug discovery, marine
natural products have attracted scientists from
different disciplines, such as organic chemistry,
bioorganic chemistry, pharmacology, biology and
ecology. This interest has led to the discovery
of almost 8,500 marine natural products to date
and many of the compounds have shown very
promising biological activity. The ocean is
considered to be a great source of potential
drugs.

6Desalination
Electrodialysis
Multi-stage flash distillation
Many processes have been used inorder to
desalinate Salted water convert it into useful
water.
Solar Humidification
Membrane distillation

8Marine Biotechnology
Biotechnological tools are being developed for
the purpose of environmental monitoring and
pollution assessment
When the biological life is attacked by
some Harmful pollutants such as PCBs, and
Transition metals (e.g., Fe Cu), a Serious
damage may be developed in the Terms of
OXIDATIVE STRESS.
9The Marine pollution Lab. Evaluates the DNA
damage via a special new colorimetric technique.
10Antioxidant enzymes such as catalase can be used
as a bioindicator for pollution
11 The free radicals originated from oxidative
stress attack the unsaturated Lipids and the
resulting chain reaction is terminated by the
production of lipid Breakdown product such as
MALONDIALDEHYDE (MDA)
