The Intelligent Driving Monitor
Aim The Intelligent Driving Monitor (IDM) is a
stand-alone device, requiring no integration with
car electronics or existing road maps, which
monitors driving behaviour to improve road safety
and promote responsible driving. In order to do
so it records various information regarding the
vehicle and its surroundings alerts the driver
and records the information for later analysis.

The Intelligence In order to determine the safety
of certain behaviour, an algorithm considers the
available information and using preset thresholds
and weightings determines whether or not a
situation can be considered dangerous.

• Dangerous Driving is not just exceeding the speed
  limit.
• Too fast around corners
• Racing down hill
• Driving on rough surfaces
• Driving around school zones
• Driving at night

Communicating Letting the driver know what they
are doing wrong is important. Letting the vehicle
owner know is even more so. The Intelligent
Driving Monitor provides aural alerts to the
driver when dangerous incidents occur, and
records this information for future consideration.
