Title: The three basic components of any electrical circuit:

1
The three basic components of any electrical
circuit
  • Power Supply
  • Closed pathway for charges to follow.
  • Load (Any electrical device which utilizes
    electrical energy.)

Voltage Electric Potential Energy /

  • Current The flow of charge through a conductor.

current voltage and power for the home assignment.
4
Fuses and Circuit Breakers protect a circuit
against too much current flow.Since current in a
wire produces heat, too much current could be a
fire hazard.
5
A GFI (previously GFCI) is a Ground Fault
Interrupt.A GFI protects the user from an
electrical shock as it measures the amount of
current entering and leaving the device. If a
small imbalance is sensed, the circuit opens in a
fraction of a second. http//hyperphysics.phy-ast

6
GFIs are required by code in bathrooms and
kitchens or whenever an outlet is near water.

Wire Color Codes
  • Any color can be used for the hot wires except
    white or green.
  • White is always used for the neutral wires.
  • Green is ground the world round.

9
Wiring rules, tips, and techniques
  • When attaching a wire to a screw-type connection,
the wire must be curled in a clockwise direction.
  • When attaching a wire to a clamp-type connection,
the wire should not be curled at all.
  • Switches are placed on the hot side of the
    circuit.
  • Wires must be run through conduit to satisfy
    Illinois wiring code.

10
  • The ground prong points to the right when
installing a duplex (outlet) on a wall.
  • 15 Amp circuit breakers may be used for any room
of a house except the bathroom or kitchen, where
a minimum of a 20Amp service is required.
  • Silver screws are attached to the neutral side of
the circuit, while gold screws attach wires on
the hot side of the circuit.
