EXISTING LINKS
  • The NWIFHE has three different types of links
    with schools traditional links, Sixth form
    enrichment and disapplication
  • The Institute currently provides over 100
    traditional link courses to 17 local schools
    and over 1750 students
  • All of these programmes lead to certification
  • The range includes ALL (Accreditation for life
    and living) and NSP (National Skills Profile)
    programmes for Foyleview and Belmont House, NVQs,
    VCEs, AVCEs, OLevels, ALevels and a variety of
    other awards

Sixth Form Enrichment Programme
  • The programme was designed to enrich the Sixth
    form curriculum by providing opportunities for
    young people to experience a variety of
    occupational areas
  • There are three runs, each comprising of ten
    weeks and there is opportunity for certification
    in some areas ie

Disapplication
  • Education at Key Stage 4 is changing and in the
    last four years schools have sought to improve
    and widen the curriculum on offer to their pupils
    to reduce the numbers of disaffected youth
  • The result has been involvement with local
    schools to set up and deliver programmes leading
    to NVQs and City Guilds certificates over 8
    vocational areas as follows
