  • It is situated on the south-west of Slovakia
  • Neighbours Region of Trnava on the west,
  • Region of Banská Bystrica on the north,
  • the long south bound is a frontier with
    Hungary

SELF-GOVERNMENT OF NITRA
It's situated at the connection of the north jag
of Pannonia basin and the south-west jag of
Carpathian Mountains. The relief of the region
has a mainly plane and upland character. It
belongs to the warmest areas and the most
productive agricultural areas of the Slovak
Republic. The region of Nitra belongs to the
drainage of the european river Danube. Its
affluents are Váh with Nitra, Hron and Ipel. The
axis of the region is the river Nitra with
affluent itava. The main mineral resources of
the region are carbon and turf.

Administration The governmental concept of
decentralization and modernization of the public
administration in Slovakia was approved by
Government Resolution 230/2000 The competences
of the regional self-government are regulated by
Act 369/1990 Coll on Local Institutions and Act
302/2001 Coll (as amended) on the Self-government
of Higher Territorial Units The sphere of
activity for a self-governing region has been
defined as follows In the process of
self-government execution, the self-governing
region takes care of the general development of
its territory and the needs of the regions
inhabitants

VISION OF STRATEGY The Self-governing Region
of Nitra is a progressive region that focuses
primarily on the needs of regions inhabitants
and intensively supports agriculture and
entrepreneurship in order to reach success and
to create job opportunities .

  • ACTIVITIES OF THE SELF-GOVERNING OF NITRA
  • creation of suitable conditions for the
    development of human resources, including
    reconstruction of school, social, health care and
    cultural institutions established by the
    Self-governing Region of Nitra
  •   37 projects were submitted for co-financing
    from EU resources as well as other projects aimed
    at the improvement of education and further
    education and creation of infrastructure for
    business activities
  •   regional-planning pre-conditions for
    establishment of industrial parks in locations
    with high unemployment rate, projects aimed at
    the support of small and medium enterprises
    (regional innovation strategy, information centre
    for enterprisers at the Regional Office),
    promotion of the Self-governing Region of Nitra
    in the international context
  •   establishment of a joint regional agency
    representing Slovak regions in Brussels,
    co-operation with regions in Hungary, Italy and
    France (exchange of experience), participation in
    inter-regional projects (exchange of experience
    with EU regions)
  • separated waste collection, support systems
    for small and medium enterprisers, certificates
    of quality for countryside, equality of
    opportunities

REGIONAL INNOVATION STRATEGY - PROJECT The
project RIS SK was approved in the 5th framework
for research and development of European Union.

Slovak Center of productivity at VUNAR, Ltd. Nové
Zámky. Project partners TechnikZentrum
Lubeck, Germany, ECO PLUS Wienna, Austria and BIC
Bratislava, Slovakia. The objective this
project formulation of innovation strategy for
Nitra Self-Governing Region based on methodology
of EU

  • offer to best university graduates the
    alternative of local employment in exchange with
    emigration
  • take over the experience of EU members states,
    in first place from project partners

    realization of innovation strategy, that will
    function even after the project completion

  • establishment of Regional center of creativity
    and innovation with impact in whole region
  • prepare a special educational institution
    focused at creativity, innovation and development
    of human potential virtual university.

opportunity offered us project IMIS. Our basic
concept however had to change
Activities will be worked out in two axles
- Planning, ensuring and education of human
resources, needed for a well operating of
network incubators. Networks without own assigned
geographical residency, without material
conditions, but ensuring with all the non
material and human conditions and for successful
operating of needed soft facilities. (CS1, CS2
and CS3) - Parallel ensuring of
needed financial sources, which enables in the
middle timed measure securing the
necessary material sources and
infrastructure (CS4)
