The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors
established a 2,000-foot buffer around the
landfill within which uses incompatible with the
Kiefer facility would be prohibited.
The Department of Waste Management and Recycling
owns over 3,300 acres within and adjacent to the
buffer.

6LUFA Land Use Feasibility Analysis
LUFA was performed to identify the best use of
the land.
Two public meetings were held in the fall of 2007.
LUFA Conclusions and Recommendations
Continue to communicate with the neighbors.
Develop a process for reviewing new uses.
Several land uses warrant further consideration.

New uses must be marketable.
New uses must be compatible with each other.
New uses must be compatible with the sites
surroundings.
New uses must have community support.

accomplish its goals.
