Capital Access Program

• 3.5 million earmark.

  property-based businesses have difficulty
  obtaining bank loans.
• MEDC soliciting financial institutions to
  participate.
• Companies now able to apply for CAP financing.
• Opening up opportunities for many small
  businesses in Michigan.

Defense Contract Coordination Center

• 10 million earmark.
• Goal help Michigan entrepreneurs and companies
  secure a larger share of contracts by the U.S.
  Department of Defense, Homeland Security and
  related federal agencies.

• Administered by MEDC
• Up to 100 million for 2006
• Overseen by 19-member independent Strategic
  Economic Investment and Commercialization board
• Broadened technology eligibility
• Put capital to work by August 2006
