Tense Mood
  • All verb conjugations have a tense
  • Tense explains when an action is taking place
  • Examples of verb tenses present, past, future,
    conditional, imperfect, present progressive
  • All verb conjugations also have a mood
  • Mood explains the view of the speaker
  • Examples of verb moods indicative subjunctive
  • So far, you have only learned verb tenses in the
    indicative mood

Moods
  • Indicative Mood is used most of the time in
    sentences. If the sentence has only one
    verb, it will be in the indicative mood.
  • If a sentence has two verbs, the first one will
    be in the indicative mood. The second one may be
    in the indicative or may be in the subjunctive.
  • There are indications for when to use the
    subjunctive those indications will be taught
    later.
  • For every conjugation you have learned, there is
    a subjunctive counterpart as well.

The difference in Mood
  • The present indicative the present subjunctive
    both talk about actions occurring now
  • The difference is the wording used, the intent of
    the message. One is fact one expresses an
    opinion.
  • She runs quickly.
  • Ella corre rápidamente.
  • I hope she runs quickly.
  • Ojalá que ella corra rápidamente.
