- Can be used to visit websites including chat
rooms - Can access internet instantly
- Can take pictures and video and let you send
these via email - Children need to think carefully before sending
images of themselves or friends

- In 1997 there were already 10 million children
accessing the Internet. - The Internet can be a source of terrific
educational possibilities, and very scary
situations. - Your child can be a pen pal to a 10 year old boy
in India, or a pen pal to a 48 year old man
posing as an 11 year old girl.
These are children UNDER 12 years of age.
8What Can I Do to Keep My Child Safe?
- Talk with your children about their internet use
- Nothing in life is 100 safe all the time, and
the internet is no different - Parental control is really
- a MUST.
9How can you see where they have been?
- Set up the Internet History
- Open the Internet
- Go to Tools/Internet Options
- Make sure the Days to keep pages in history
setting is fairly high
10- If you suspect your child has accessed
inappropriate areas, check the history - Click on the History Icon (this may look
different on other systems) - Check the sites listed-make sure they are
familiar and appropriate

- Click on Show all history to see last few days
and weeks.

"Cyberbullying" is when a child is tormented,
threatened, harassed, humiliated, embarrassed or
otherwise targeted by another child using the
Internet, interactive and digital technologies or
mobile phones.
27What Can You Do About Cyber Bullying?
- Do not respond to rude or harassing emails.
- Keep copies of all emails for proof and contact
your local law inforcement or ISP if necessary. - Use web sites that translate the lingo your
children are sending and receiving. - Block harassing emails
- Delete their current account and open a new one.
The new address should only be given to a few
trusted people.
