• Secretive sharing via bluetooth,

• Nasty calls, texts, videos, images
• Repeated calls, silent calls
• Posting content online

Webcams Video hosting

• Recording images or motion for porting to
  internet or just seeing a friendly face at a
  distance conferencing, collaboration,
  educational recordings
• Inappropriate images or performance to the
  camera,
• Egging on, blackmail, defamation by editing
• Hijacking of cameras

Instant messaging VOIP

• Real time contact with buddies , keeping in
  touch with friend outside school
• Usually one to one, consenting contact
• May not know all the buddies have been introduced
  to personally could be anyone
• Nasty, rude messages
• Hacking to copy, delete or change information
• Impersonation

Chatrooms and message boards

• Real time contact with a group of who share an
  interest
• Anonymity is a double edged sword sensitive
  subjects but no verification of identity
• Adult themes
• Manipulative pressure to reveal or share
  information or content to become part of the
  group, or download or upload illegally

• Asynchronous communications works well across
  time zones or those who are busy disposable
  accounts can be useful to enter competitions etc
• Spam, viruses, spyware target leading to
  hacking or identity theft for family members as
  much as child
• Phishing for usernames and passwords
• Impersonation

Social networking and own websites

• Facebook, myspace, Bebo allow engagement by
  interest, and sharing on content a virtual club
• Easy to think its private too much personal
  detail and contact information make them a target
  and may put family at risk too
• Spread rumour, nasty comments, illegal content
• Fake profiles or posts in order to heap trouble
  on victim

Virtual worlds and gaming

• Closed sites such as VLEs, those used to simulate
  or re - enact times past or play realistic games,
  
• Take on alternative egos second life character
• Misuse or accounts by others or time spent too
  long
• Repeatedly picking on one persons weaknesses
• Deception becomes reality

E-Safety prevents Cyberbullying

• Awareness of acceptable use and risks on-line
  nothing is necessarily as it seems
• Personal information and passwords to themselves
  even if asked for Be imaginative instead
• Patching, Firewall, Antivirus, antispyware, risk
  of email links, risk of raw feed and illegal
  sites
• Beware hooks - illegal music, imagery
