Title: Trying to Tie
1Trying to Tie
By Kelly Hall CI 335 Mustafa Yunus Eryaman
2One day after school, Kelly and her mom were
reading a book for fun. They quickly finished
the book and Kelly complained that it was too
easy for her to read. So, Kellys mom decided to
challenge her. She asked Kelly to tie her shoes.
3Kelly loved it when her mom worked with her on
schoolwork but reading and writing was one thing,
tying her shoes was completely different!
Mom! You know I dont know how to tie my shoes.
No matter how hard I try, I just cant seem to
get it!
I know, Kelly. But if you dont keep trying then
you will never learn.
4The next day at school Kellys teacher, Mrs.
Parisi was busy trying to get her class to settle
down after recess.
Okay students, settle down. Right now were
going to watch a movie about endangered species.
5Kelly quickly got bored with this movie and her
eyes wandered all around the classroom. She
immediately became mesmerized by her friend
Katie. Katie was spending this whole time tying
her gym shoes over and over again.
Why cant I do that? Katie makes it look so easy!
6Well, wait a minute, maybe I can. Ill just
watch Katie. Lets seefirst she makes two
loopsthen she crosses one over the other. Then
it looks like she pulls one through the hole and
pulls tightly.
7I did it! I did it! I finally tied my shoes
and I did it all by myself!
8Kelly was overwhelmed with excitement when the
bell rang for lunch. She ran up to Mrs. Parisi
to tell her of her great accomplishment.
Mrs. Parisi youll never guess what I can do! I
can tie my shoes all by myself and I just learned
how, wanna see me do it?
I would love to. Oh my Kelly, that is wonderful!
I am so proud of you.
Im gonna run home and show my mom. See you
later!
9Mom! Mom! Mom! Youll never guess what I can
do!
Oh my goodness. Well, I dont know. What can
you do?
Welltoday at schoolI TAUGHT MYSELF HOW TO TIE
MY SHOES!!!
Here, Ill show you!
10Kelly slowly remembered the steps that Katie had
done all morning to tie her shoes. Make two
loopsCross one over the otherPull throughtie
tight! She did it!
Pull through
Tie Tight!
Make two loops
Cross one over the other
11Oh honey Im so proud of you! I always knew you
could do it. All it took was a little bit of
time and a lot of patience.
12And that is how Kelly learned how to tie her
shoes.
It was because of patience, hard work, and
concentration.
But in the end, Kelly learned to tie her shoes
when she was ready and able.
THE END!
